CL4010 LightSpeed 40G Coherent SoC
The CL4010 LightSpeed is the industry's first 40G coherent single chip DP-QPSK transceiver. The LightSpeed SoC is the world’s first multi-rate Coherent Dual polarization Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DP-QPSK) modem with an advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) engine, designed for 43 Gbaud and higher optical transmission in 40nm CMOS. The SoC performs Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC) in the digital domain, DQPSK/QPSK mapping/demapping, synchronization, data serialization and deserialization (SERDES) for fiber optic links including 40GE, SONET/SDH, OTU3/4 networks supporting industry standard Forward Error Correction (FEC). The CL4010 is commonly used in metro, regional and long-haul applications. LightSpeed is shipping in volume.
The CL4010 combines the SERDES function with high-speed Digital Signal Processing (DSP) required for Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC). The advanced equalization algorithms enable both devices to overcome the impairments of the channel, including chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion and non-linearities. Functional blocks include a bulk chromatic dispersion equalizer, a fast 4-dimensional equalizer, carrier and polarization recovery, a 4-dimensional slicer, QPSK/DQPSK mapper/demapper, Serializer, Deserializer and Clock and Data Recovery (CDR). All of these functional blocks are available as SoC blocks forming the basis for a custom IC specific to a customer requirements. By integrating our customer partners IP into the SoC, a custom, differentiated CSoC solution is formed meeting the exact needs of the market.
